Who is behind this website? Pam von Gohren (and husband Jerry) are parents to four grown-up children whom they began teaching themselves in 1977 after experiences in both government and private institutions. Pam does the writing and presenting, while Jerry provides support. Three of their children went on to liberal arts colleges and one chose a military career.

A native of Washington State, Pam graduated from the University of Puget Sound. As the promotional home economist for an electric utility company, she wrote consumer curriculum for schools and customers. After retiring to become a mother, she organized parent education classes at the newly established neighborhood health house for children in the Hilltop area of Tacoma. Following a move to the Midwest, Pam became the North Central USA regional administrator for La Leche League International, helped start a private school and with Jerry, served on the board of directors for the Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators. She is a certified trainer for Parenting for Achievement classes. At present, Pam is a member of the Minnesota Nonpublic Education Council, a body created by statute to advise the Commissioner of Education on private school matters.

Besides conducting workshops and seminars, Pam has spoken at the annual conferences of the Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators, North Dakota Home School Association, Minnesota Catholic Home Education Conference, Minnesota Homeschoolers Alliance and Home-Based Educators Accrediting Association, as well as the national conferences of Home School Legal Defense Association, La Leche League International and Marriage Encounter.
